Carpenters?

I have a brand new house with an unfinished basement (cement floor and walls) and I have been having a lot of carpenters around lately, I have been using Raid but it's just a temporary fix. Is there an insecticide that I can get to use inside and/or outside to really take care of this problem?? This is really starting to become a problem. I also have 2 kittens and a dog so I have to keep them in mind when using any products. Please help! Thanks in advance.

2. Rather than trying to keep the animals out of the sprayed areas, invest in one of those sonic pest solutions. That will not harm your dog and cat, and should be available to keep out the ants. I have not really shopped around for these, but a quick search came up with this one http://www.grfrequencies3.com/pest.htm Glad you are paying attention and not putting your pets in harms way from the toxins.
3. Usually when there is carpenter ants, it's because somewhere around your house or inside the walls of your house there is rotten wood. They like dampness!
