Christians: What was Jesus like as a baby ? ?
I'm not looking to start something here, but I have always found it rather difficult to imagine that God came down in the form of a baby; does this mean that at one point in the Almighty's life here on earth, He was helpess and ignorant of the things that adult mortals like us take for granted? You mean he had to learn how to walk, cried when he was hungry and needed his diapers changed, had to relearn how to read, spoke in baby prattle before articulating his first word, had to learn the basics of carpentry, had to learn how to feed himself? etc. etc. I wonder why the bible contains so few details about this stage of Jesus's life? I truly mean no disrespect, but I've wondered on and off about this, and would like some insight. Plus, I'm not the only one with such questions in mind. thanks in advance.

- there were no such thing as Jesus, hun
- Even then, he wasn't really real.
- He spent a part of His childhood in Egypt, refuge.
- Jesus was, I'm pretty sure peaceful and obedient.
- i think the bible didnt include much about His birth and childhood because more important was the miracles he preformed and how He died for our sins
- Cute and cuddldy. Just like any other baby.
- Yep just like you and I did. What makes you think he would be any different from us?He is the human side of the father and as a human he was just as we were.
- Now you are starting to see why God is love. John:16"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. The doctrine of the incarnation in Christian teaching is that Jesus, who is the second person of the Trinity, added to himself human nature and became a man. The Bible says that Jesus is God in flesh, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.....and the word became flesh and dwelt among us" (John 1:1, 14); and, "For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form" (Col. 2:9). Jesus, therefore, has two natures. He is both God and man. Jesus is completely human, but He also has a divine nature. MAN He worshiped the Father (John 17) He prayed to the Father (John 17:1) He was called man (Mark 15:39; John 19:5). He was called Son of Man (John 19:35-37) He was tempted (Matt. 4:1) He grew in wisdom (Luke 2:52) He died (Rom. 5:8) He has a body of flesh and bones (Luke 24:39) GOD He is worshiped (Matt. 2:2,11; 14:33; 28:9) He is prayed to (Acts 7:59; 1 Cor. 1:2) He was called God (John 20:28; Heb. 1:8) He was called Son of God (Mark 1:1) He is sinless (1 Pet. 2:22; Heb. 4:15) He knew all things (John 21:17) He gives eternal life (John 20:28) The fullness of deity dwells in Him (Col. 2:9 As a man, Jesus needed to pray. When He was praying he was not praying to Himself, but to God the Father.
- He became a pirate and soared the seas pillaging and raping........see I don't know anything about him either just like the rest of the christians and once again I can write absolute bullshit and claim it must be true
- He was smelly, loud and a burden to his Foster Parents....just like all other Babbies ...basically.
- Jesus could have had a very spunky personality. the purpose that the Gospel authors had was not a biography of his life but his message that he came to the earth to bring. That is why they didn't focus on his early life. They were trying to put the important things in.
- You have to remember that the gospels were never intended as autobiographies but rather as informational material provided for existing Christians at the time of their writing, and that it wasn't until much later that the question of whether his sayings or life events were what was really important to the new messianic sect. Most scholars today believe that his teachings are more important than the facts of his life as evidence by the little attention to chronological details which differ between the synoptic writings. This absence of specific details also implies that it was "unremarkable" or that it was just like any other average childhood.
- He experienced life as a normal child. He was both fully God and fully man. He didn't do any miracles until He became a man. You're not the only one who wonders about Jesus' childhood. I think the Bible just contains enough information that we would be able to believe.
- The Bible does not give a lot of detail about the infantry and childhood of Jesus. Most of it is covered by a single verse. At the end of Luke 2, it tells us that Jesus "grew in wisdom, in stature (size), in favor with God and man". So it does appear that he had to learn all the things a normal baby learns. And that he was as an infant as helpless and dependant as any other infant. Even as an adult, it speaks of Jesus being hungry, getting tired, falling asleep while they were traveling ,etc. It appears that he had all the same weaknesses as any of the rest of us. There are two reasons for this. First, Jesus had to be limited by all the same things that limit other humans and still be able to live a perfect life, or God is not just to judge us for not beng able to do it. Jesus had to go through those things - and still been perfect - to show that it was possible and that the "tools" God gives to every man (prayer, faith, laying on of hands, indwelling of the spirit, etc.) are enough to do it. But also because by going through all those things, and winning over them, he can serve as our example that we too can get through those things. He faced all the same weaknesses, limitations, temptations, etc as the rest of us. He just did it without sinning. (Can you imagine what it would have been like to have been one of his siblings? "Why can't you be more like your brother Jesus!! He is always perfect!!" Might explain why, before his resurrection, his brothers thought he was nuts...LOL)
- Yes to all those things he mentioned. Can you imagine how humbling that would be if He knew about His mission from day one? Plus if He understood it at birth then He would have never had to "grow in stature & wisdom" as the Bible says. There is an age of accountability which in the Jewish religion is 12 or 13. Since His father was God He had no inborn seed of sin. Though Silent Night is a beautiful song & sentiment crying isn't a sin. That's the only way He had to communicate His needs. Until He came into His ministry He would have had to have a way to support himself. He was 30 yrs. old. So I'm sure like most young men of that day He learned from His earthly father. Outside of the incident in the temple at 12 there's no info from 18-30. We also don't know when Joseph died so maybe as the oldest He had to support the youngest. There's a scripture where it says if all the miracles Jesus performed were written down there wouldn't be enough books to contain them. I presume the details of the life of Christ we don't know about was considered inconsequential. The record just touches on the important stuff. The Bible says He was like man in every way except being born into sin so the answer is yes. He grew up like we all do learning to chose right from wrong. Moses had no idea there would be any kind of special ministry for him at even 70, yet look what the Lord led him into. How much more so could God reveal to Jesus who He was at a later stage in life?
- In John 8:58 "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "before Abraham was born, I am!" The above verse speaks a lot about who Jesus really is. There are a lot more chapters and verses mentioned in the below website along with music, speeches and praise and worship. http://jesustrinity.blogspot.com Jesus is God. He is alive forever. The questions usually asked are:- 1) Did Jesus really exist? 2) Is Jesus God? 3) If Jesus is God, then why did He keep praying to the Father in Heaven? How can the Father and Jesus be one God? Why did Jesus have to suffer on the Cross? 4) What is the Holy Spirit? 5) What is so special about Jesus? Why cant I just view him as an ordinary man or a teacher or a prophet? Why should I see him as God? It would not be possible to give a short answer to these questions . I suggest you visit the below website. After visiting the below website, you would get a lot of answers. http://jesustrinity.blogspot.com 1.Thomas calls Jesus God in John 20:28 (Note, Thomas addresses Jesus specifically.) 2. The apostle John says that Jesus was , "...calling God His own Father, making Himself equal to God," (John 5:18) 6. In the OT God was seen (Exodus 6:2-3;Exodus 24:9-11; Num. 12:6-9; Acts 7:2), yet no man can see God (Exodus 33:20; John 1:18). It was not the Father that was seen in the OT (John 6:46).
