Im in highschool...i want to go to college for carpentry...my dad is a master electrical contractor?

okay so im 17 years old and in 11th grade...i need help finding out what exactly i need to do when i get out of highschool...i want to go into the carpentry field..idk which specific type, but my dad is a master electrical contractor who works for himself..he did not go to college tho..hes has been for since before i was born and makes around $44 an hour and is reknown for where he lives. what should i do and were should i start?

  1. Trade School. Most offer anything from 6 month certificates through 2-year degrees in Carpentry (both framing and finishing). A few (like the one I attended) even have full 4-year degrees in Contracting with an emphasis on carpentry management.
  2. Ask at local community colleges. Ask the shop teacher at your high school. Try asking the guidance counselor.
