Vehicle Maintenence Or Carpentry?

I Choose my college course soon, I love doing stuff with my hands constructive stuff, I love cars, What would be the best course to do like for the future and pay? I Would be doing Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery and Year 2 would be doing Diploma in Bench Joinery Level 2, The Vehicle Maintenence is just fixing cars and that i presume? Anyways what one would be the best to do? Cheers

  1. That is a hard choice. If you like to build things with your hands that is very rewarding. Also repairing automobiles is rewarding because of the challenge of diagnosing the problem and repairing it.
  2. People will always need their cars sorting, in a recession the building trade is always amongst the first businesses to suffer.
  3. Can't you find a way to learn a lot about both of those, and other hands-on skills too? That way, you can buy an old house and fix it up just how you like it (you can study interior design books for ideas). It would be too expensive to hire other people to do all of that work. As another answerer pointed out, people often have to repair their cars even in hard economic times. So you will get steadier income this way. Also, you could buy non-working cars for cheap, fix them, and resell for profit. And you can save money by repairing your own car, in some cases. If you learn upholstery, you can do nice looking custom fabric on both your car seats and old furniture you buy for your home.
