Is it wise to take a carpentry course if you want buy and rent out houses?
I want to buy a beat up house, fix them up and rent them out but i know i'll need to be a handy man. I grew up fixing houses, but theres plumbing, electrical stuff i don't know, even some other stuff. I was thinking of taking a year course at a local college, its a apprentice carpentry course entry, or journeyman? i don't know a guy just told me. Just imagine if i could know what i'm doing i could fix my own houses and save alot of money, what do you think? Sounds Good?!

- The more you know the better --then even if you cant do the repair yourself you will be less likely to be robbed by a crooked tradesman....Also watching home improvement shows and ready books for beginners will be helpful.
- Either that or be independently wealthy and plan on having your profits eaten up by repairmen.
- Excellent idea. Perhaps you should consider the home inspection courses offered at the community college also. You won't learn much about electricity or plumbing in a carpentry course, though.
