i'm thinking of doing a carpentry home course and i'm a bit unsure about it! do they class as a real qualification to employers? are they just as good as going to college or uni? i have no qualifications in carpentry at the moment, but if i do this course do you think i would be eligible to get a carpentry job? do you think they would employ me with this qualification? answer as much as you can thanx! i live in the uk. and just to be clear it's a carpentry home course working up to level 3. thank you!

- Choose carefully which organisation you use to do the course through. For example, the Open University is highly regarded but there are others that aren't. Saying that, I started to do a nutrition module through OU. It takes a lot of self motivation, especially if you have a busy life with family/work. I didn't finish the module but went to college instead and will be starting a nutrition degree at uni this year. I don't believe I would have been able to do a 'nutrition degree' from home (even though it is offered) as some of the concepts/things to learn are too difficult just learning from a book. I'd recommend, if at all possible, to ditch the home course and go to college. Especially since your choice is so hands on. Also, working alongside other people at college will help to keep your focis and motivation high.
