Immigration - Uk to Australia (Carpentry)?

Right im a young lad (17) and for the past 2 years have been studying carpentry at college & have chosen this carear. As i enjoy it & like being on site having the laff & making with my heads - I am now undertaking the NVQ level 1 carpentry coruse that has now changed to Level 1 Dip. in carpentry & joinery so really when i finish all of course i should be about 19-20 & be a qualified carpenter. I know you have to be 20 to immigrat to diffrent country but when im old enough, i want to travel the world on my own meeting new people on the way & feel if i can a job in another country 24hrs from were i live at the moment i feel that this is a start, i dont want to live in england all my life :) Has anyone from uk ever immigrated away? & how hard was it? in say 5 years time will there still be a demand for skill trades oversea? & last but not least what things will need to be overlooked & approved before i can get given a workin permit. Many thaks :)

  1. In Aussie you will need a sponsor job to be able to start here on a work visa and with the downturn in the economy this is not likely in the near future but then again who knows in five years ~~
  2. Before you emigrate anywhere,I would suggest that you spend a few months on a working holiday. I went to Australia a few years ago,I spent 1 year working in Sydney and the Gold Coast. I had a great time, I did however come to the conclusion that I could earn more money and have a better standard of living here in England. Not every one would agree with me,but for me it was the correct decision. Only you can decide, but I would strongly recommend that you spend some time there before you emigrate, I know people that have sold up here, moved to Oz and then come back here after a few months-they did not like it.
