Learning Carpentry

Are there any carpenters out there?

I need to build a small ramp to lay on while working on the plumbing under the sink. It needs to be 13.5" wide X 31" long and must go up to 6.5" high. I don't remember my high school math very well and I can't figure out the angles. I will be using 3/4" plywood for the top of the ramp. I don't have enough blankets and since I weigh 300 lbs, I need to have my whole body supported or my ribs will break. I've already tried twice to get to the water lines. Since the cabinet is 6.5" off the floor, I can't lay down to free both my hands without hurting my ribs.

  1. dont be silly go get an olde blanket and fold it over the sill now after the water is off and the pipes are drained lay down remeber to use a bucket to catch the water refuse under the sink OK why make a project and spend money on plywood and screws when a old blaket or a pillow works , an olde home builder and house painter and allaround good guy
  2. do you have a speed square and a chaulk line?if you had a speed square you could just make it 45 degrees, and snap some lines, and cut.......i wouldnt fret about it too much though;its only a platform to work on.2x4's are 1 1/2'' thick so pile some on top of each other, and screw them together.hope that was some help--its so hard to explain with words.good luck.
  3. a squared+b squared = c squared. with c being the long side a the triangle.....ugh what they said.....ive never thought about a ramp i just crawl up under the sink.....it does pinch the back a little....but not much. but any how b=6.5, a=31, solve for c.....31 2nd + 6.5 2nd = c 2nd....961+42.25 = c 2nd... c = 31.67.....
