Are American Carpenters and Electricians going to Iraq and other countries to help rebuild?
I always hear about how they are asking carpenters or electricians to volunteer to go to Iraq or another 3rd world country for a couple months to help rebuild, then coming home and receiving money for it. Is this true because I have only heard through word of mouth? Where can I find out about this, and what exactly are the qualifications?

- Yes, and they are well paid!
- yes, they are already over there, coming back and going over again.
- Sounds like a missionary project but you don't get paid for those, now there is some Charity's that pays you some but it barely covers what you spend off shore. You can get a contractor job with some company's but they are usually a 1 year open ended contract these pay very well.
- yes they are and getting paid well too
- Go to KBR website. They get paid well and are civilian contractors on US bases over there. It is a one year contract with the bulk of your pay given to you at the end of your year. That way they can kind of give you a reason to stay the full year. We had several contractors in Ramadi with us and they got shelled and mortared daily just like we did. It is not a walk in the park and if you get captured while in transit you are not military so the military will not give your rescue a very high priority.
