  1. Seriously, if you're not ready to pick a field or a college, just take some courses at a community college for a year or two. No point in forcing yourself into something you could end up hating.
  2. I agree largely with the first answer. It can be a daunting task when it comes to choosing a career path, so it usually works out well to start at a community college and take a classes from several different disciplines to see what you like and do well in.
  3. Yes. I was in kind of the same situation before. My parents wanted me to go to college for nursing but, I didn't feel it was my passion, During high school Ii went to a Technical School for Cosmetology. At the end of my program I figured out it was not my calling. Whatever it is that you decide to do, it will come to you in its own time. Now I have found my calling. I am a professional massage therapist and own my own business. And it's great Good luck dear!!!!
  4. well first let me say, you should have been thinking and planning for college before your senior year. but it doesnt matter if you dont know anything about medical, thats what school is for. as long as you have a strong intrest it that field then you will do fine. i would go with the one that you really enjoy doing or learning about, if it really intrests you, then go with it. but do your research first about each field.
  5. If you want to be a Doctor, then medicine it is. But I would advise you to take it there in the U.S. I believe they have more modern facilities and you'd be there at the site where they make the most advances in medical science. However, since you also want to be near your relatives and friends, and you are good in construction, how about taking up Civil Engineering? Nursing is also a good course, but I think it is more for girls, though I know of other young men who took the course.
  6. there is a career assessment test done by the high school guidance office. asked your school about it. it may help you realized what field you inclined to. Good luck!
  7. Don't sweat it, kid...just enjoy your senior year. For now, if you're headset in studying college in the Phils., your main concern should be 1) shopping for schools, 2) finding out the requirements and 3) keeping tab of deadlines and test dates. As for what course to take, it doesn't really matter at this point --- college freshman subjects are general (i.e., basic). Whether you're going into Nursing, Med. or Eng'g, you'd still go through Introductory this and that. There's really no need to decide on your major this early. Wait till you get the feel of college for a sem or two....then you're in a better position to signify your major. GOOD LUCK!
  8. since grade school i only had one course in mind. engineering, but two mos. before my high school graduation, i figured i only want it because my family was into engineering. i took up mass communication instead & im happy right now. try weighing the pro's & con's of enrolling a course. its better if you take up a course that YOU want. & if you really want to study in the Phils, then tell your folks. It seems to me that you're already decided in the matter of what country you'll be taking up college : )
  9. ther r lots of nursing students nowadayas........................................ and fewre doctors.... i think u should take med if ur interested in working here in the philippines in the future... abt construction.. i think... and i know its related to civil eng'g.. however.. there are few carpentry wokrs and u only take that during ur first 2 years... then the rest is MATH... im taking up that course.. hahah
  10. I know of (3) people from the USA that went to the Philippines for Medical School (unfortunately I am an Engineer and not making as much $$$$ as they are). All (3) are doctors now, but all (3) took their undergrad courses here in the USA. The best thing about taking your med degree in the Phils is the cost (very inexpensive compared to US) but also that all courses are in English, so you should have no problem. But you should do what you want. Like mentioned previously, go to a Community College first, see what you are interested in then decide for the final 2 years. A well paying job is not everything if you are not happy.
  11. that's why u need to study for a certain thing to know more about it, not know-it-all and then study... ohhh wuuttt?
  12. okay, you want to either take nursing construction or meds. i agree with some of the other answers like you should seriously get something that you are interested in. even if you don't know anything about. they're right, that's what schools are for. but should you plan on taking anything related to med like being a doctor or a nurse, i really suggest you take it there in the states. do you know how many filipinos spend a lot of us$ just to get licenses so they can go abroad to work as a nurse? even doctors take up nursing because demands are high. so why leave when you're already there??? i also read one asnwer about taking a vocational course, it's a nice iea but think about it, would you take a year or 2 off your planned course just to know for sure? i mean that's a great idea but that is still money and time. think about it. oh yea, the other dude that told you to keep your heads up on the entrance tests and dates, that's true. and if you're still bent on studying here, do your school research as some schools specialize in a partcular course.
